15th October 2019 Match Reports

 Following this weeks matches in the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League, Cwmbran Blues remain top of Division One. In their latest match the Blues beat Cardiff Nomads 26-10 with Mark Farrow picking up the player of the match award with his 3 wins. Farrow was well supported by guest player Michael Luckanic, also with 3 wins, and Colin Price with 2 wins. For the Nomads Peter Gordon picked up his teams solitary win.

Second place in the division has been taken over by Blaenavon Aces following their 24-8 win over Cwmbran Preachers. Player of the match was the Blues' Jon Allen with 3 wins and he was well backed up by guest player Mark Edmunds, also with 3 wins, and Ben Allen with 2 wins. For the Preachers Dave Lloyd picked up his teams' only win.

Having their first match of the season were last years champions, Cwmbran Aztecs, and they had a successful start with a 24-5 win over North Gwent Nomads.  Player of the match was the Aztecs Tony Collins with 3 wins and he was well supported by Mark Edmunds, also with 3 wins, and Andrew Ryder with 2 wins. For the Cougars Sam Slatter registered his teams' only win.

The new leaders of Division Twoare Cwmbran Dynamos, following their 27-3 win over Cwmbran Devils. Player of the match with 3 wins was Will Smith-Haddon, who moves to the top of the individual averages. He was well supported by Alex Jones and guest player Howard Gaut, also with 3 wins each. For the Devils Stan Williams fought hard for his 2 team points.

Occupying second place in the division are Cwmbran Lions who beat Cwmbran Fellows 22-9. Player of the match was the Lions' Nigel Gore with 3 wins including a success against Wayne Ford which went to a deciding set. Gore was well supported by John Williams and Haydn Skinner with 2 wins each. For the Fellows Wayne Ford picked up 2 wins.

The final match in the division saw last years' champions, Cwmbran Eccentrics, defeat North Gwent Terriers 24-9 in their first match of the season. Player of the match was the Eccentrics' Lincoln Alford with 3 wins, including a notable success over Michal Policht in 5 sets.  Alford was well supported by John Thomas and Ian Shipley with 2 wins each. For the Terriers Policht picked up 2 wins.
